This course prompts learners, specifically educators, to determine the effectiveness of their strategies and learn new ways to manage behaviors that impede their students' learning, social, and emotional development.
Before stepping into a classroom or school, educators do not always have an extensive background in managing student behavior. This can leave educators unprepared to meet the needs of their students. If educators have a more common language around tools and strategies to navigate behaviors across school settings, more time can be spent on instruction. This can create a shift in the heavy reliance on behavioral staff or behavior systems that are rooted in punishment. Instead, educators can address issues while keeping the focus on instruction.
This course will provide learners with tools to continue to build their capacity to create an inclusive classroom and apply behavioral strategies when appropriate.
Educators will reflect on their current practices individually and collectively. Educators will determine the effectiveness of their strategies and learn new ways to manage behaviors that impede their students' learning, social, and emotional development.
